WEEKEND SWATCHFEST: BECCA AND BURBERRY

In my previous post, I mentioned my trip to Sydney on the weekend and did a spot of shopping.  Of course, what would be a beauty blogger be without having a lot of swatches on her hands during this experience!  *blush*  For convenience, all photos were taken using my iPhone.  I do apologise if they're not the best (most beauty counters don't take kindly to photography :( ), but hopefully it will help you somewhat if you're considering buying any of these products.  Below are swatches of new products from two of my favourite makeup brands: Becca Cosmetics and Burberry.

Becca Ultimate Matte Lip Colours
There are 8 available colours.
Taken outdoors under natural lighting (against olive, medium to tan NC~30-35 skin tone)

Top row from left to right:
  • Claudine: nude - quite so, such that you may not be able to see it in the photo because it almost matches my skin tone.  Just a touch peachy pink in comparison.
  • Isolde: nude mauve
  • Antoinette: merlot
  • Adele: raspberry
  • Aurora: coral red
  • Amelia: poppy pink - love this one, but I thought I may have something(s!) similar so I resisted the temptation to purchase.  Phew!
Bottom row from left to right:
  • Josephine: crimson
  • Eloise: ballerina pink - I purchased this as I thought it'd be lovely for everyday wear and would get a lot of use out of it.

Becca Ultimate Crème Eyeliner
The eyeliners come in 4 colours.
Taken indoors under artificial lighting (against olive, medium to tan NC~30-35 skin tone)

From top to bottom:
  • Renaissance: matte brown - initially I was going to purchase this for a neutral day wear without the harshness that a black liner can give...however, I went for the more sparkly one in the end!  Resistance was futile!
  • Neo Classic: shimmering ivy - a must if you love green around the eyes.
  • Belle Epoque: shimmering plum - I purchased this one because apart from being pretty, I didn't have a cream eyeliner quite like it in my collection. :)
  • Romanesque: matte black - to me, this was a perfect matte black - blackest black and extremely opaque.  If I were to run out of my current Bobbi Brown one, I would definitely try this out next!
If you wish to know more about the new Becca products, please check out my previous post.

Burberry Lip Glow in 'Fondant Pink'
This is one of the 4 new lip glows released as part of Burberry's 2013 spring/summer collection. For some reason it wasn't released everywhere like the other 3 shades were, but in any case, I found it at the Burberry counter at the Sydney David Jones store. :)  The shade is called 'Fondant Pink' (No.21) and it's a very milky, pale/baby pink. (Swatches of the other 3 lip glows can be found in this post).
Taken outdoors under natural lighting.

Burberry Light Glow Blush in 'Coral Pink'
One of 2 new blushes released for Burberry's 2013 spring/summer collection (click HERE to read a full review of the other blush).
Taken indoors under artificial store lighting.  Sorry it's blurry :'(

Hope this helps and thanks for stopping by. ^_^ xo

  1. Awesome swatching as usual, thank you!
Loving the lippy in Amelia. Are they similar feel to the current range of Becca lipsticks? I'm so happy that Becca have finally come on board with a cream liner. My Holy Grail are the Bobbi Brown ones too, how do you think they compare?

    1. Thank you. :) Sorry I had in mind to do a comparison review of the Becca with the Bobbi Brown ones a while ago, but for some reason never got round to it! :'( Hopefully I'll get around to it again soon if you were still interested.

      Thanks for visiting. x

  2. I'm obsessed with matte lipsticks lately, and those Becca shades look great! Aurora and Amelia are my favourites from those swatches.

  3. Hello Miss Indigo!
I was dancing quite some time around the thought of making some of these mine, namely the cream liners and the matte lip colours, and so I finally caved in :)
I have to say, I was shocked by the size of the teeny tiny eyeliner pots, only to realise I am a packaging fool, since the MAC ones, for example, contain just 0,5g more product, but it is housed in a significantly larger pot.

I got the one in Renaissance and the one in Neo Classic (as a lover of sophisticated green shades, I could not pass on that one) and the matte lipstick in Eloise.
I have only tried the lipstick, which is oh-so-lovely, but is definitely a neutral medium pink on my NC17-NC20 skintone, instead of a gorgeously nude ballerina pink that it is on you :) Thank you for the great swatches that helped me make my decision! x

    1. Hi Nephele!

Yes I agree about how tiny the pots are. LOL - good to know the actual amount isn't really that much different though. :) Those thicker glass pots can be a bit misleading! ;)

I must say I love wearing Eloise. I've never been into softer, nude type lips before, but just recently I've gotten into it esp. since I find Eloise really wearable on me and just so pretty!

Thanks for sharing the difference in how Eloise looks on your skin tone. Useful stuff. :)

How do you find the Becca eye liners compared with the MAC ones in terms of pigment and wear?

Thanks for reading my review & your kind comments. ^_^
