WEEKEND SWATCHFEST PART 2: DIOR FALL/AUTUMN 2013 COLLECTION

Welcome to part deux of my weekend swatchfest with the latest from the House of Dior...(if you wish to see part 1 - click here).

DiorBlush

There are 13 new (reformula shades of the DiorBlush, which are permanent and will replace the existing Dior powder blushes.  (Note, the right-most one of the bottom row in the photo above is the Rosy Glow Awakening Blush, which is not new).

The colours divided into 4 colour spectrums (pink, red, coral and nude) and 3 finishes (iridescent, matte and satin).

Here are some photos of the new DiorBlush display  photographed with my phone camera and under poor store lighting, so please excuse the lower quality. /:-\  I did adjust the white balance of these photographs afterwards as best as possible so that the colours appear more accurate. :)

Below is the DiorBlush compact that comes with a mirror and angled, natural-bristled applicator blush.  The compact has a thinner case and redesigned and stamped with the House logo.
Above: close up of some of the new DiorBlushes.

Colour Swatches
Take 1.
Take 2.

The above shades are (from top row - left to right then bottom row - left to right):
846 Lucky Pink
566 Brown Milly (on its own, it's a pretty colour, but intrigued to know which skin tone this might flatter as it does look a bit like a bruise!  Perhaps it's best as a contouring shade - if you have ideas do share in a comment below!)
746 Beige Nude
586 Orange Riviera
829 Miss Pink
939 Rose Libertine
889 New Red
656 Coral Croisette
849 Mimi Bronze
896 Redissimo
553 Cocktail Peach

I purchased the other 2 shades that were not swatched here, but I will post swatches and my thoughts on them soon!  These two shades are:
876 Happy Cherry
756 Rose Chérie

I have my eye on 846 Lucky Pink next. ;)

The 3 photographs of swatches (on my medium, olive, ~NC30 skin tone) below were taken using a proper camera ;) and using a strobe.  Note, the numbers match those of the blushes numbered above.
The photograph below was taken using my phone camera (lower quality) and under store lighting.  The swatch was also applied on a Dior MUA's warm, fair skin tone as it was able to show the colour of DiorBlush #586.  Unfortunately, this shade will not really show on medium to darker skin tones.  I think it's probably the palest of the range.

RRP
The new DiorBlush relails for AU$72.

DiorShow Fusion Mono
"With Diorshow Fusion Mono, Dior has created the first multi dimensional light and shadow eye look.

Eyes dress up in the dazzle of black diamonds, of amber or even the moon."
There are 6 shades available in Australia and unfortunately, they are all limited edition:

001 Lune
081 Aventure
281 Cosmos
381 Millenium
661 Météore
881 Hypnotique

I believe there are 2 more shades available in other selected countries.  At present, only the testers are available and stores will not receive stock for sale for perhaps another week or so due repackaging requirements.  (At one point, the entire contents of the glass container came out when it was accidentally dropped - so, fingers crossed this will be rectified with the revised packaging).

I have pre-ordered 2 of the shades that took my fancy the most: 381 Millenium (a complex and shimmering olive bronze) and 281 Cosmos (a shimmering blackened blue) :)

A few of the shades are similar to those from Chanel's Illusion D'ombre range.  My initial impressions are that the Diorshow Fusion Monos have a smooth, lightweight feel and apply just as smoothly.  They are intensely shimmery and probably aim to be more shimmery than just focus on full colour pigment.  To me, they appear to have a little more shimmer and less pigment than the Chanel Illusion D'ombre.  The latter has fairly strong pigment to be used as eyeliners in comparison.  Also, the texture is a bit different as Chanel's definitely has more of a sponge-like feel to it, but they both apply easily with the warmth of the finger tip.

Above (L - R): 661 Météore, 001 Lune, 881 Hypnotique

Above (L - R): 381 Millenium, 281 Cosmos and 081 Aventure.

  1. Hey girly, thanks SO much for the swatches! I'm eyeing some blushes (New Red is strangely enticing), and I think I need Millennium in my life! These are soooo sparkling!

    1. No worries Sunny! Yes, I bet New Red would suit your skin tone. :) I loved Redissimo too - what an awesomely bright red shade! Shame I can't pull it off. Agree, Millenium is a sparking beauty, too - can't wait for mine to arrive >_<

  2. Thanks for these swatches! The Dior blushes look AH-MAZING! So many gorgeous colours!

Do you think you'll stick the the Chanel Illusion's rather than the Dior shades? Whilst they are very pretty, I think the Chanel ones have more "elegance" and "class".

Please keep up the amazing work!

    1. Hi Annica! Can't say for sure until I get a hold of one to use for a longer period, but my first impression is that I kind of prefer Chanel's pigment and twinkle. I always think of Chanel's as a twinkle and every other eye shadow as shimmer - hehe... if you know what I mean. Just a touch more sophistication. ;) Also, it's hard to justify buying more when I've stocked up pretty well on Chanel's Illusion D'ombre! LOL.

I'll try to do a comparison post once I get my Dior order and had a good trial.

Thank you for your support - it always means a lot to me. ^_^ xo Glad the swatches were helpful. I felt so lucky the lovely DJ SAs allowed me to. :)

  3. Thanks for a lovely sampling of what Dior has in store for us!
I have no idea how I'm going to maintain my financial integrity this year.
Between these shadows and those of the Armani Scarabeo collection, I'm doomed.

    1. Haha! Yes I know what you mean - blogging doesn't help coz I need them for research purposes! ;) Hehe. Oh dear. Ah well, I'm glad you found them useful - that's why I do it apart from loving makeup, taking photos and blogging about what I love. It's a shame the shadows are LE - perhaps they're testing the waters and depending on demand they'll come up with a permanent range. Who knows.

      Anyway, happy, responsible shopping! ;)

Thanks for visiting and taking the time to comment. x

  4. Hi this is on a totally different topic altogether..have you tried and tested the Illamasqua foundation range? If you have I'd love to know your take on it. Also, whats your fav mascara? Ive used sooo many mascaras and I cant seem to find one which I love. Ive tried high-end brands as well as drugstore ones but im left dissapointed :-(

    1. Hi there! No, I'm afraid I've never tried any Illamasqua foundation. :( I'm not surprised you have yet to find your fave mascara - it's such a personal thing. I can't say I have found THE favourite, but I can say the most I have repurchased over and over is Becca's Ultimate Mascara. It's fantastic for me for a natural added volume - great for every day wear. I love that it doesn't smudge or become messy at all - even if I rub it - I just get a little loose ball of product but it doesn't smudge on my skin and give me panda-eyes. It's also SUPER easy to remove with just warm water - it balls up and there's no panda eyes again when removing.

I've finished a sample of Dior's Iconic Curl - I like that one too, especially the brush.

The other sample I got given and loved the effect of was Chanel Sublime mascara. It's a bit wet though, but I just love applying it. It had great impact for me personally.

Currently, I'm enjoying using the latest mascara from Chanel - the Volume de Chanel. This is the one that REALLY gives me the most impact - great for evenings out. Looks more of a false lash effect. A little does a lot.

Hope this helps! What have you tried that was closest to what you're after?
