CHANEL 'LA DIVA' ROUGE ALLURE VELVET AND 'MURMURE' GLOSSIMER FROM SPRING 2014

Chanel 'La Diva' (44) Rouge Allure Lipstick
Sleek, black and gold packaging. ^_^  One of my faves for a lipstick.  All you do is press the gold double Cs and it pops up so you can take the gold tube of lipstick out for application. :)  When done, stick the lipstick back in its black case and press it in to secure.
La Diva (44) is an "electric pink".  This kind of blue-based pink is one of my favourite pinks to wear!  It instantly brightens my otherwise dull, yellow/olive based skin tone.  I have a few of them, but not quite like this one.  The closest I could find was Chanel Rouge Allure in 'Extatique' (94) as shown in the swatches below, but 'Extatique' is a little sheer, and has iridescent fuchsia-pink shimmers.  Being a Rouge Allure formula it has a luminous finish.  La Diva has more depth in colour, is a more matte with a slight sheen and is completely opaque.  My fave bright pink since I bought it late last year has been Rouge Dior in 'Deauville' (671).  I've swatched it below as well for reference.  It doesn't have the same blue undertone compared with La Diva and Extatique.

La Diva has a beautiful, lightweight, comfortable, velvety feel on the lips.  It doesn't dry out my lips at all.
Chanel 'Murmure' (179) Glossimer
Murmure (179) is a soft, warm (kinda peachy) pink.  A no-brainer for everyday wear.  Unlike many of the glossimers, this one has no shimmer and has very good coverage.  I personally prefer this kind of lip gloss because I find the gloss itself is shiny enough without adding shimmer to it and I'm not really into layering gloss over lipstick, so an opaque lip gloss is perfect for me. :)

Above: the doe-foot sponge applicator of the glossimer.

As you can see below, I have a soft spot for these types of soft, warmer shades in glosses.  I initially thought Murmure was the same as Giorgio Armani Flash Lacquer in #522, but they're not.  The latter is deeper and has a touch more reddish pink to it.  Burberry Lip Glow has a touch more pigment to it and the shade in 'Tea Rose' (No. 05) - while also warm, is more pink than peachy or reddish pink.
I found Giorgio Armani's Flash Lacquer has the most longevity of the three.

Overall
I love both - perfect formulas, and gorgeous shades.  But, if I had to pick one, I would say definitely get 'La Diva' if you love bright colours and don't have one similar.  It's the perfect lipstick for when I'm in a rush and need a pop of colour to make me look polished, more alive, and made an effort even though I didn't really.

No need to fret though coz both are new and added to the permanent line.  Huzzah! :)

Hope this was useful.

Thanks for checking out my blog! ^_^ xo

  2. Love the blue pink of La Diva. How is it compared to TF Aphrodisiac?:)

    1. They're completely different. Aphrodisiac is deeper, pink red or fuchsia (much more red basically!) whereas La Diva is a lighter, brighter, blue-toned truer pink. Hope this helps. x

  3. They seem to have same color. I really do not know what is the best. Hope to read more reviews about these. Kinda confused =(

    1. Hi Susie. I presume you're talking about Murmure? The three do look more distinguishable in person than in the photo above as I described. Of the three, Burberry Tea Rose has a very obvious pink. So if you want slightly warmer, shade then choose either the Giorgio Armani or Chanel's. But, if you look at a distance, there's probably little difference. Overall, you can't go wrong with either of the 3 if you're after these types of shades really! GA is more long-lasting so this might be better value for money. If you're still unsure - best to try them in person. ;)

Good luck. Let me know how you go!

      Thanks for visiting. :)
