BURBERRY LIGHT GLOW IN 'HYDRANGEA PINK' (NO.10)

Hydrangea Pink is one of two newly released blushes for Burberry's Spring/Summer 'Red Siren' Collection.  The other is 'Coral Pink'.

Colour & Pigmentation
This beautiful blush has excellent pigmentation, so apply very light-handedly and build slowly!  The shade has a similar reddish undertone as Chanel's 'Tweed Fuchsia' - though not as intense.  'Hydrangea Pink' is lighter and brighter in comparison.  See the comparative swatches below  with two other blushes, which are more blue/cool-toned.  The colour actually pairs beautifully with Burberry's new Lip Glow from the same collection, called 'Mallow Pink' (No.10) (swatches and review to come soon! ;-) ).

The red undertones seems to be more emphasised when applied on my olive, medium to tanned skin (~NC30/35).  As a result, it looks quite natural as it is a similar shade I get when I'm sunburnt.  It's lovely for summer. ^_^  I think when my skin tone is a shade or two paler in the winter, it will have more of a brightening effect.  Those with naturally pale skins may find this also.

Up close - the pretty, Burberry check embossed into the pressed powder blush itself. ^_^

Texture and Finish
I find the texture of the blush powders very, soft, smooth and easy to blend - here's why according to the official Burberry website:
"Burberry Light Glow contains silicones for effortless and even application and wild rose extract for moisturising benefits"

The finish gives an almost matte effect, but there is a very subtle sheen to it that gives your skin a slightly healthy glow.

Longevity
The blush lasts about the same as most blushes on my combination skin (oily T-zone, but drier cheeks).  Approximately 4-5 hours.  (For long-lasting blushes, I usually turn to Bobbi Brown blush, which lasts through til evening for me).

Packaging
Note, the compact does come with a protective black velvet pouch.  It also has the Burberry check on it. :)
Sleek and fairly hefty weighted, luxurious compact with a gunmetal finish.  The iconic Burberry check is subtly etched onto the compact.
The mirror is provided underneath the compact lid and there is a compartment for the applicator brush provided.
Product description label at the bottom of the compact.
Mini applicator brush provided that's very good quality.  The hairs are natural and fairly soft.  The handle is very lightweight, black lacquer plastic.
Flat brush head.
The angled shape helps to blend the edges out for a more natural application.

Scent
If you stick your nose in the pan, you will notice a relatively soft, floral scent - most likely, rose.  It's unnoticeable to me when I've applied it to my cheeks.

Size
7g / 0.24 oz of product.

Swatch (Blended Out)
All swatches applied on olive, medium to tan skin (~NC30/35), and photographed indoors under artificial lighting and using a strobe.

Comparative Swatches

Overall
I love this very spring-but-mostly-summer-appropriate colour to the cheeks. ^_^  The excellent pigmentation means this blush will last a long while!  Great quality as usual from the brand. :)  Worth getting if it's in your budget, and you don't have something similar to it already.  I personally don't have too close a match for it in my collection to be considered a duplicate, so I'm fairly pleased I purchased it.

Hope this was helpful.

Thanks for stopping by! ^_^ xo

  1. Those are beautiful pictures!! I'm surprised when compared to the EL and the BB, Hydrangea Pink does look so reddened. I picked up Coral Pink which I thought was so blue-toned, but I see it has nothing on the Pale Pink and Fearless.

    1. Thanks for your kind comment about my pictures. :) Are you happy with Coral Pink? That looks pretty too from the photos I have seen. Yes, Pale Pink and Fearless are very blue. It's amazing how our eyes don't notice the real undertone until we swatch it next to something else! LOL.

Thanks for reading my blog post and commenting @Bellyhead. ^_^

    2. I compared the warmer Coral Pink to Burberry Blossom and Blossom was positively orange next to the bluer Coral Pink. It's very weird. I'm enjoying Coral Pink!! The Burberry powder things are very lovely indeed. I really enjoy the incredible pictures on your blog.
