CHANEL LE VERNIS IN 'TABOO' (583)

Chanel Le Vernis in 'Taboo' is a very dark purple with fiery red, violet, fuchsia, and electric blue iridescence.  As Christine from Temptalia.com would describe it, Chanel 'Taboo' is a "galaxy in a bottle". :)
It really is a complex nail polish, and while with all its richness and shimmery goodness in a bottle looks extremely beautiful, on the nails it's a little more subdued in comparison.  Nonetheless, it's still an interesting shade that alters depending on angle and lighting.  In lower lighting, it appears more deep with red coppery hues, while in brighter lighting it appears more cool and blue.

This nail polish has excellent pigmentation and is a one-coat wonder.  It applies evenly with a high-shine, smooth, non-streaky finish.  'Taboo' lasted about 4 days on me (I did do a lot of cleaning around the house without gloves though! Tks, tsk) before it wore enough that it had to be removed.

Like with many dark nail polishes, it is worth applying a base coat on to protect your nails from staining.  (I used my HG 'Becca 2-in-1 Base and Top Coat' in these swatches - but only as a base coat).

By the way, all Chanel nail polishes are formaldehyde-free, toluene-free and DBP-free.

While I was initially very excited by 'Taboo' when I first saw swatches of it online and couldn't wait to get my hands on it, I must admit I'm a little underwhelmed when I tried it on myself.  /:-\  I have medium, olive NC30 skin tone, and it looks dark, complex and interesting, but I wouldn't say it was as eye-catching as say the Chanel 'Graphite' or Azuré Nail Colours.  Perhaps this will look more stunning on paler skin tones.  Nonetheless, I'm still happy to have it.  Do check this out still and you needn't rush, because 'Taboo' joins the permanent nail colour range. Phew.

I will post some comparison swatches in my next post. ;)  Meanwhile, here are some happy snaps and how 'Taboo' looks on my tips.

Hope this was helpful.

Thanks for stopping by! ^_^ xo
