SWATCHFEST! + MINI REVIEW OF MY PICKS FROM THE NARS SPRING 2013 COLLECTION

The Happening Palette
This lovely, sleek, convenient palette includes an eye shadow quad in the centre and a blush and bronzer on either side.  The compact comes with a large mirror.  The colours are a little autumnal from my point of view as opposed to spring-like, but the majority of it is still fairly neutral making it wearable at any time of year really.  So, it's something that I'll definitely get a lot of use out of, particularly when I'm travelling.  The only minor complaint I have is that the lightest eye shadow shade in particular, tends to have shimmery fall-out.
The eye shadows include:
  • Night Star - Sheer peach with gold pearl
  • Gstaad - described as a shimmering taupe (to me, it's more of a shimmery golden sandy brown).  This is a limited and exclusive shade to this palette.
  • Kuala Lumpur - Boysenberry infused with gold
  • Coconut Grove - Deep chocolate brown - incredible pigmentation.
Swatches taken indoors under artificial lighting and using a strobe.  Applied on medium, olive (~NC30) skin tone.
Take 2: the golden shimmery finish of 3 of the shades in the quad.
The blush is the ever-popular shade from Nars, called 'Orgasm'.  It's a peachy pink with gold shimmer.  It suits most skin tones.  Equally popular is the 'Laguna' bronzer.
Dressed To Kill Lipstick
This is a muted, slightly rose-toned red with gold shimmers. It's a satin lipstick that matches well with the 'Seduction' blush (see below). I've really enjoyed wearing 'Dressed To Kill' recently, because it's lovely for autumn (again, despite being a spring release!), and it's very wearable shade for day as well, because it's not too red and too bright. So, it will also suit those who want something a little less 'out there' and don't feel comfortable sporting the traditional, brighter red shade. I love the way it instantly makes me look classy, yet very modern and put-together. It's a definite keeper for me. ^_^

'Seduction' Blush
'Seduction' is a sangria, or a deep, red wine with a satin finish.  This is an extremely pigmented blush, and I love that.  It makes it very versatile as you can build the colour intensity very easily (with caution!) to suit the fairest to darkest skin tones.  It also means, it will last you for ages as a little goes a long way.  The shade is a perfect match to the 'Dressed To Kill' lipstick.  These are both a must-have for me.  Love them both. ^_^

Thanks for stopping by! ^_^ xo
