This latest collection from Chanel is all about lips (save for one new nail colour)! Chanel lipsticks are among my favourite lipsticks. Actually, I would probably say I have more of them than any other brand. So no doubt I was thrilled to accidentally see this new collection in store recently. The testers hadn't been touched so I'm sure they'd only just been released this Saturday! I quickly 'blessed' them by being the first to swatch for the good of all beauty bloggers. ;)
There's a mix of permanent, repromoted shades and of course, limited editions. They're organised into variations of three groups of shades: nude peaches to corals, pink reds, and violet plums. Each variation has a selection of natural, delicate hues to more bold, intense colour. (Check out the Chic Profile to see a list of the entire collection and launch dates).
If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed I selected four lipsticks from the collection. However, silly me, I just realised that I already own 'Rende-vous' (#87) - which is a repromote, so I've returned that and exchanged it for the Rouge Coco in #61 Chéri (nude peach) instead (see swatches and thoughts of that lipstick here). I did wonder if I had it already while in store since the name sounded so familiar, but I bought it anyway! (Beauty blogger brain glitch! ;) ).
Anyway, for now, I will share three of my picks.

Rouge Coco Shine (Hydrating Sheer Lipshine) in Bohème (91) is described as a 'luminous red'. This feels very smooth and emollient on the lips, which is one of the reasons why Rouge Coco Shines are one of my favourite lipsticks to wear. Interestingly enough, the colour pay off is more like the original Rouge Coco Shines and definitely not as strong as the more recent releases of this formula, which have 30% extra pigmentation (see examples here). So, there seems to be inconsistencies in pigmentation with the RCS lipsticks - be sure to test them to be sure! Having said all this, I don't mind the sheerness of Bohème, because it makes it a much more wearable, day-time appropriate strawberry/soft red lipstick that I could easily apply/touch up with without a mirror. It's a joyful, juicy red that I'm sure I'll be wearing a lot for spring and summer. ^_^
Rouge Allure Velvet (Luminous Matte Lip Colour) in L'Amoureuse (47) is an 'intense rosewood'. I'd describe it more as a medium to deep plum-toned rose. I love this lightweight, non-drying formula, with a mostly matte and slight sheen finish. It has indeed got a velvety smooth feel and even application. Excellent colour pay-off. This velvet formula was released quite a while after the Rouge Allure lipsticks so I don't own many, but I'm sure my collection will grow, because it's just beautiful. This colour is appropriate any time, but is very autumnal. Certainly one reason to make me excited for autumn to arrive. Au revoir horrible heat waves, bonjour L'Amoureuse! ;)

My third pick and my favourite of the lot is Rouge Allure (Luminous Intense Lip Colour) in Rayonnante (145). It's a 'deep fuchsia with mauve nuances', or to my eye, a gorgeous, bright, violet-toned fuchsia. ^_^ *sigh* Init just pretty?! This shade simply makes my heart sing, and it's also in one of my fave lipstick formulas. I own more Rouge Allure lipsticks than any other Chanel lipstick formulas. I think they're just perfect. They have excellent pigmentation, feel lovely on the lips and the packaging is sleek and simple like all Chanel packaging. The press/click and release mechanism of the tube can also be rather addictive. *grin*
Swatches
All swatches were applied on my olive, tanned skin (~NC35) and photographed indoors using a strobe.
Comparison Swatches
Above: a better comparison of L'Amoureuse with Benefit's Full-Finish Lipstick in 'Wanna?', which are both in the same colour family. Nars 'Dressed to Kill' is your more traditional deep rosewood shade and is redder.
If you're a fan of Chanel lipsticks then do head on over to your nearest counter and check this collection out! You're bound to find a lipstick...or four.
Hope this was helpful.
Thanks for looking! ^_^ xo
