PT 2. CHANEL VARIATION COLLECTION - SPRING 2014...SWATCHES & FIRST IMPRESSIONS

For Part 1 of this post, click HERE. :)

Here are swatches and comparisons with my fourth lipstick pick from the new Chanel Variation Collection.  It's a Rouge Coco lipstick in #61 'Chéri'.  Further down, I've also added swatches of four of the re-promoted shades in the collection, which I already own from previous releases in case you were interested. ;)
Above: the Chanel Rouge Coco lipstick packaging.
Chéri is a light peach.  When swatched on my skin like this, it appears more pink (see photo below).  However, on my blue-toned, pigmented lips, it appears much more of a true light peach.  It is therefore, recommended to try on your lips first to see how you like it.  Initially, I was worried it was too "nude" and pale for my current summer tanned skin and my lips which are quite pigmented.  However, after a few layers straight from the bullet, it does give just enough coverage on my lips and looks quite lovely.  I'd say it has medium to semi-opaque, buildable coverage.

Chéri is a perfect, versatile shade for a natural look, smokey eye look, or to balance a stronger pop of colour on the cheeks.  It is a subdued hue that has that understated Chanel sophistication we all love.  Even a lover of bright pink lipsticks like myself couldn't walk away from this one! ^_^

Note, this and other later released Rouge Coco lipsticks are much more moisturising and emollient on the lips compared to the original Rouge Cocos.  I find it very creamy and as such does tend to move about on the lips a bit especially as you add more layers.  I dab it with a clean finger after applying just to help blend it all evenly.  You could certainly apply it over a base of lip liner as well if need be to avoid feathering.

Comparison Swatches
Below is a swatch of Chéri on the far right and how it compares with my other peach/orange toned lipsticks in my collection.

For reference, all swatches were applied on my olive tan skin (~NC35) and photographed indoors under artificial lighting using a strobe.

Swatches of Repromoted Shades
For a full list of repromoted shades, limited editions and new permanent shades in the collection, see the Chic Profile.
Note, I didn't bother taking a photo of the other three re-promoted shades I have since they've been used quite a bit (esp. the coral 'Flirt' being one of my favourites and has been featured in a few of my blog posts here, here and here!) and look a bit grubby.  Above is a photo of a new 'La Favorite' (an intense orange coral), which I found in my photo collection.  'Le Baiser' (a deep pink grapefruit with subtle irridescence) has been photographed, swatched and reviewed here.  'Rendez-vous' is one of the more pigmented versions of the Rouge Coco Shine lipsticks and is a beautiful, blue-toned (my kind of) pink.
Hope this was useful!

Thanks for visiting my blog. ^_^ xo
