BURBERRY COMPLETE EYE PALETTE IN SMOKEY BROWN (NO. 00)

As I've mention time and time again, Burberry Beauty is one of my all-time favourite makeup brands.  If you're looking to treat yourself to more high-end makeup and love the effortless and chic aesthetics of the Burberry brand in general then you MUST try this brand!!  Their eye shadows, in particular, have always been an absolute love of mine.  Smokey Brown (No. 00) [interesting numbering LOL]...is one of their recent eye shadow palettes that is part of their permanent range, but it was actually released last year (around August/September) when I did pick it up straight away coz I find them hard to resist!  I first featured it on my Instagram and in this post here.  I have been using this quad since - quite often, and definitely has become part of my "go-to" / staple makeup pieces in my collection.  It's a great one to travel with as it basically is one of those excellent neutral palettes that go with everything for any occasion.  Not only that, it is sooooo easy to apply and blend to create a look without much time or effort exerted.  Being the mother of a toddler, this is what I look for in makeup these days!  You will often find a Burberry eye shadow in my makeup bag, especially when I travel.  More often a single eye shadow or two as these are easy to carry, or one of the palettes.  I even have less time to put on makeup if I do travel as I'd much rather spend time exploring or spending time with friends and family when visiting them.  I know these look good every single time I put them on and I don't have to think too much about it.  They are just one of the best!

Now let's talk about Smokey Brown...

The packaging is the same as I've described it here.

Below is the product description label on the bottom of the compact.
Shades & finishes of eye shadows in the palette (top to bottom):

// Pale pink beige with a silver sheen (it has that same finish as their Wet & Dry Glow Shadows)
// Pale brown with a hint of copper hue (satin)
// Dark taupe brown (satin)
// Dark brown (satin)

Below are the swatches.
Here we have some comparison swatches to similar Burberry (single) Eye Shadows in my collection....

Left to right: Sheer Eye Shadow in Dark Sable (No. 23), Sheer ES in Midnight Brown (No. 21), Sheer ES in Almond (No. 06), Sheer ES in Pale Barley (No. 22), Wet & Dry Glow Shadow in Nude (No. 002), Complete Eye Palette in Smokey Brown
You probably wouldn't get too excited just by looking at the pan, but these look gorgeous on the eyes!  I'm so glad I picked it up!!  I love wearing these with a red, or any bright coloured lipstick.  Because it's brown-based, I find this palette wearable for both day and night.  Although there's no shade that is hugely contrasting or has a very shimmery or glittery finish (you rarely find this in a brand like Burberry), I still find it just gives me the right amount of definition and a more polished, yet effortless look that I'm comfortable and happy with without ever looking like it's too much.  The palette is neutral to slightly cool toned - quite flattering for my dark brown eyes and medium to tanned, olive skin (~NC30).  It's nice to have a more neutral-toned palette as there are so many out there that are clearly lean very warm or very cool-toned.  So, I'm sure this would suit many skin tones.

I find that the complete eye palettes (I have most of them shown here with links to their individual reviews at the bottom of that post) including this one are fairly consistent with Burberry's original Sheer (they weren't sheer though! ;-)) Eye shadow [see them here] single's formula (these are now discontinued, but replaced with similar Wet & Dry Silk eye shadow singles).  The texture is top-notch - extremely silky, soft, buttery and smooth, so it applies and blends seamlessly like a dream and the pigmentation is excellent.  Smokey Brown is no exception.  Overall, I find this palette completely flawless if you want a proper neutral palette.  I have many neutral palettes, but this is one I reach for more than many of the others, because of how beautiful it looks on and how quick and easy it applies due to its exceptional formula.  I can even easily apply these just with my clean finger tips and blend out the edges a little with a brush and it looks great!  There's no annoying fall-out or creasing.  All the colours blend into each other perfectly.  It's as if the powder does most of the work for you...a bit like "self-levelling" nail polish does most of the work for your nails. ;-)  These wear all day through to evening without noticeable fading without the use of primer, and I have normal (neither oily or dry) eye lids.  Brilliant.

Bottom Line
It's a perfect, proper, basic neutral eye shadow palette.  Must-have.
