SNEAK PEEK + SWATCHES | CHANEL OMBRE PREMIÈRE EYES COLLECTION

Get excited Aussies coz the new eye makeup collection from Chanel "Ombre Première" will be hitting our shores early June!  I always look forward to their eye makeup collection every year and this one is no exception.

This collection is huge!  The products are made to apply with Chanel Global Creative Makeup and Colour Designer Lucia Pica's favourite artistry technique of layering.
It consists of an entire new range of cream eye shadows - "Ombre Première Longwear Cream Eyeshadow" to replace the original Illusion d'Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadows, which is one of my all-time faves - particularly because, many of them had that magical sparkling finish unique to Chanel.

Below are some swatches all taken under in-store lighting and using my phone camera.  For reference, they were applied on my medium to tanned olive skin (~NC30).

Ombre Première Longwear Cream Eyeshadow Swatches
Above left to right: Noir Pétrole (812), Pourpre Profond (810), Silver Pink (814), Undertone (802), Lilas D'Or (808) and Scintillance (804).
There's also a whole new single powder eye shadow line up, called "Ombre Première Longwear Powder Eyeshadows".  There are 12 colours all up (at least in Australia - I know there are a few more colours in the USA) - including a gorgeous azure blue, a daring canary yellow, a vibrant violet and metallic silver grey and silvery green.  The formula is said to be "infused with mother-of-pearl to give an iridescent finish", which may explain why even the more matte shades still have a subtle glow to them as opposed to being completely flat.

I must admit I was rarely drawn to their previous formula of single ESs as their palettes usually attracted me more (for good reasons!), but based on my first impressions of the new products I think they might just speak for themselves.  So, definitely check them out in person at your local Chanel counters if you can!

Below is a video of the swatches (from my Instastories in case you missed it!)
Most, if not all, of them had great pigmentation and a lovely, easy-to-blend, smooth, buttery texture when swatched.  Noir Satin (26) in particular, was a pleasant surprise and evoked an immediate "ooh!" from both myself and the SA who watched how rich and smooth the colour was upon swatching!  It's not often we come across a good black eye shadow that isn't sheer, that isn't patchy and that is a true black.  This was impressive.

There's also a dual tip retractable eye shadow brush (there's another one for eye contouring - it has smaller, narrower tips shown by the Makeup and Beauty Blog), but it will not be released here in Australia according to my friendly local SA).
[ I know there are some eye liners released in the USA, but I haven't been told about them here, so I assume Australians won't get them (I'll update you otherwise!) ].

There are also the new release of the Longwear Eyebrow Gel available in - a blonde, brown ("brun") and a clear.  I tried the brown in store and the colour for my naturally black brows is good and looks natural.  It did take at least a couple of coats to achieve fuller looking brows, so it's quite user-friendly and you won't have the problem of overdoing it as it takes a bit effort to build.  However, I only tested this using their "testing / disposable" brushes that look like mascara disposable brushes - NOT the actual brush that comes with the gel, so I imagine it will be much easier with the actual brush and get better results.  I must say though, having just tried the Suqqu's new Volume Brow Mascara beforehand, which completely WOWED me from first use (you might've seen when I showed a sneak peek of its results on my brow on Instastories), it's up against some tough competition!  I hope to share a post on that soon should the stars align (coz mum "lyfe" you guys! :-P  ;-) ).

Below (a selfie taken very late (!!) at night with my phone) is how the Longwear Eyebrow Gel in "Brun" looks on my naturally sparse, black eye brows.  I applied two coats and the result is still very natural with a little more colour suitable for normal every day wear.  The brows didn't feel crunchy or stiff after applying the product and it did seem to hold the hairs in place throughout the day.
As for skincare, there's the upcoming new launch of their Hydra Beauty Micro Creme (Fortifying Replenishing Hydration).  It's aimed to provide "advanced hydration with camellia micro-droplets for the face", and give a plumping effect.  It feels an ultra lightweight cream that goes on smoothly
and immediately sinks into the skin.  Unlike most moisturisers, this one leaves the skin feeling dry to the touch rather than moist, dewy, tacky or greasy, or leaving any residue whatsoever.  So, I'd imagine this one would be great for layering underneath makeup during the day.  The recent Hydra Beauty range has impressed me so far - it's my favourite from the brand, so I'm looking forward to trying the little samples I've received of this new product and seeing if it, too will be worth the splurge.

Based on my quick testing, these are the items that I've got on my immediate wish list:

//  Ombre Première Longwear Cream Eyeshadows in Undertone (802) and Silver Pink (814)

// Ombre Première Longwear Powder Eyeshadows in Talpa (14) and Bronze Antique (32)

There are several more that are so tempting as well like the shimmery Gris Anthracite (40), which seems to have a slightly purple/pink shift to it adding complexity and interest; Blue Jean (16), Desert Rouge (36) and Titane (38).  Although, it's a powder, the shade of the latter is reminiscent of a cross between my much loved Illusion d'Ombres in Epatant (84) and Rivière (87) (see them here).  Noir Satin (26) would be a great work horse - serving as an eye liner and for adding depth in smokey eye looks.

And, last but not least, I really love the...

// Dual tip retractable eye shadow brush!

If time permits, I'll post individual reviews of the products from the collection that I purchase once they're available and I've had a longer play with each (testing their wear time and if they crease or have fall-out, etc).  In the meantime, I hope this sneak peek of what's to come and the swatches were helpful.

On a side note, I really want to thank Patricia and Jindi at Chanel counter in Myer Canberra Centre for allowing me to play with the new collection's testers ahead of their release (I now have to wait patiently for the stock to arrive to add to my collection! >_< )  They're always so helpful and genuinely passionate about the brand and it makes it a joy every time I visit!  If you happen to be in Canberra, I highly recommend you ask them for assistance regarding the brand! ^_^

Have a great weekend! x

Anything catch your eye in this collection?
