SWATCHES | DIOR COLOUR GRADATION FOR SPRING 2017

Dior have launched their spring 2017 makeup collection in Australia, and already the Diorblush Colour Gradation in Pink Shift (pictured above) has sold out at my local counter!  I initially would have just missed this blush as I have so many pink blushes already even though it has such a pretty ombre pleated design. >_<  However, I was even more impressed by how beautiful it looked when swatched and blended on my hand.  I could see it would instantly brighten and perk up any skin tone, and the smooth, soft, silky texture was divine!  Alas, my dream of taking this home with me was not to be, but at least my wallet can breathe a sigh of relief.  LOL. ;-)  I think this blush is worth a look and I recommend snapping it up if you can still get a hold of it!  (Just don't tell me about it or I'll cry...haha/boohoo).

Anyhoo, here's the inspiration behind this spring's collection:
"This spring, Peter Philips, Creative and Image Director for Dior Makeup, presents Colour Gradation to re-enchant the gradient makeup trend, a precise but intuitive technique that celebrates colour in all its splendor. Lips are enhanced with a blend of weightless shades, eyes are illuminated with vivid colour harmonies and the face is brightened with evanescent blushes. As a welcome to the beautiful days ahead, Peter Philips offers women in Dior the freedom to go bold with colour ― intense or natural ― and express their very own unique beauty."
Unfortunately, all photos and swatches here were taken with my phone camera, so the quality isn't the best, especially with horrible in-store lighting.  I photographed the swatches under the shopping centre's ceiling where there's some natural light.  Hopefully, it will give you some idea of how the colours look! >_<  Note, they were swatched on my medium to tan, olive (~NC35) skin.  I didn't get to swatch everything though. /:-\

The collection include's Dior's new Lip Shadow Duos, which have a powdery to matte finish.  They are a double-ended pen with foam applicator tips.  Interesting huh?  Each end is a different colour to allow you to create your own custom colour gradation.  Apparently, the foam tip gives "optimal colour application".  I'm not sure about that after I swatched it.  It seemed to drag the product across the skin and looked a bit patchy.  Not sure if that's just the testers that were there or not, but the formula does say it is powdery and matte, which is exactly what it is.  The "powdery" part I think is novel for a lip product.  I haven't tried it on my lips, but I'd imagine it wouldn't be the best formula and applicator for those with very dry, chapped lips, etc.  I can imagine the product to settle in certain areas and accentuate the dryness and any flakiness.  If you've tried it - let me know how you get on with it in a comment below!  It's an interesting new product anyway.  There are three colour combinations in the collection and are all swatched in the photos below.
My long-time followers (bless you if you still follow me!) will know I love blue eye shadow and if I didn't have a big collection already I probably wouldn't have resisted the Blue Gradation eye shadow palette swatched above.  Blue eye shadows that are pigmented and feel smooth and creamy to apply are very hard to find, but that bright blue in the palette was beautiful!  I would have picked it up just for that shade alone. *sigh*
A new shade of the Dior Addict Lip Glow in Berry is a nice one to have if you haven't already got one of these in your stash.  I have a couple of these in other shades from previous collections and they are really addictive to apply and reapply throughout the day coz of how nourishing they feel on the lips.  Their a lip balm, so their pigment is usually quite sheer, but this is the deepest shade I've come across in the range so it will give much better colour pay off than the others.
I know there's also the Coral  Twist (002) Blush Colour Gradation and a Diorskin Nude Air Colour Gradation in 001 Rising Pink, but my local counter did not appear to have testers for these.  I'm not sure if they would have them in stock either, but I have just checked the David Jones website and they do have them there so it may just be selected counters and online that have them available.

The only thing I picked up without first swatching (haha!  Odd that!  Oh dear...) is the Dior Lip Scrub.  I loved the idea of this - carry and apply anywhere, portable lip scrub in lip balm form, so it seemed automatic that I just had to pick it up at the time.  LOL.  Anyway, more photos and my personal thoughts on that later.

Hope this was helpful.  Happy Australia Day to my fellow Aussies. x
