Here I am, squeezing in as many blog posts as I can while I've got some momentum, something to say, and toddler is asleep - and tonight she's gone to bed one and half hours earlier than her usual very late nights (she's a party animal ;-) ), so I'm taking advantage of this rare, little miracle. Anyway, I thought I'd share my thoughts about this new lip product from Dior's Spring 2017 makeup collection, which is described as a -
"self-vanishing sweet exfoliating lip balm (that is) colour awakening".
So, the sugar grains are designed to melt away, "leaving lips incredibly softer". As mentioned in my previous post (it has swatches of some of the items from the spring collection), I couldn't resist trying this new, innovative lip product and loved the idea of a carry and apply anywhere you're at, portable lip scrub in balm form. This is so much better and more convenient than dipping your finger or spatula into a pot of oily, grainy goo; scrubbing your lips with it then having to rinse it all off in the bathroom sink. Hence, why I hardly do it, especially now that I have even less time on my hands with a toddler to look after! While luckily most of the time, I don't have dry, chapped lips - I can get it in the winter, so it's nice to gently scrub any dead skin or flakiness when it comes around. But, ideally, it would be nice to do it more regularly throughout the entire year just to give my lips a bit of TLC and keep them soft, supple, and subsequently, also helps any lip colour apply more effectively on top.
Dior application tips are:
"At any time of day, generously apply the stick, gliding along the lip or massaging in small circles to smooth, rehydrate and nourish dry skin.
For optimal exfoliation, rub the grainy texture between your lips together to melt the grains of sugar."
As always - love Dior's packaging. The soft, translucent pink is so soft, feminine and sweet. ^_^
Below is how the product initially looks with the very grainy texture, but once used, it looks a lot smoother.
Below are the ingredients list.
The lip scrub has a sweet, minty scent to it which reminds me of Mentos lollies. Dior claims that this product is meant to leave your lips "naturally rosified", which I find to be true and the more your scrub and apply, you get more of a baby pink hue.
The grainy texture as Dior claims, pretty much melts away and disappears as you swipe it on. That's why initially I was extremely disappointed and felt as if it wasn't a "scrub" at all. But, does it leave my lips feeling soft and nourished? Yes, while the product is still on, but when it's off, it doesn't leave my lips like it had absorbed all that moisture and kept it in there like I expect it to. In fact, my lips feel a tiny bit drier! Also, I wish it was more grainy and it didn't melt away so easily so I could scrub my lips properly (if at all!). I don't feel it has exfoliated my lips. I will say, that similar to the Dior Addict Lip Glows, it's very moreish and you tend to want to reapply it often. And, I also do it to try to really scrub my lips, but without much result. You'll end up what little product there is to begin with (i.e. 3.5 g / 0.12 oz) VERY quickly! So, overall I'm sad about that, and I wish I could return it. :'( Nice idea, but it's a real shame it didn't execute for me.
Let me know what you think.
