MY PICKS FROM THE CHANEL COLLECTION LIBRE FOR CHRISTMAS 2018

This Christmas, Chanel celebrates the lion - Coco Chanel's personal emblem and astrological sign.  Lucia Pica indulges us with a golden highlighter and single iridescent and matte eyeshadows embossed with this symbol.  More is more with this collection that's been designed to create the ultimate glamorous holiday looks.  See here for the entire collection.
I picked up four from the collection.  Although, I may have to check out the Ombre Première
Longwear Cream Eyeshadow in 826 - Rose Lamé as well in store that I missed in my first visit to see if that is worth picking up.  I do love a good everyday cream eye shadow, which I suspect this one could be.  Incidentally, that "Liquid Bronze" lip gloss is also tempting me as I'm into nude/natural/brown lips at present... (we'll see!!)

Of course, I snapped up the Le Lion de Chanel Illuminating Powder.  This is a golden highlighter with a metallic finish - so it has a lot more impact than many of the previous highlighters (particularly before Lucia Pica came into the picture).  This has more obvious, dare I say - almost "chunkier" pieces of iridescence in them so a little goes a very long way!  Not my usual everyday wear (or most people's), but is apt for the Christmas festive season.  I find it best to apply with a finger along the high points of the face as to avoid getting specks of gold where you don't want it - unless of course, you don't mind that look.  It has a very smooth and buttery texture.  This is quite medium depth of colour to it so it would work on medium to deep skin tones particularly well.  Three of the four single powder eye shadows with the lion embossing also came home with me.  These are the three iridescent ones with that signature, stunning, sophisticated gold twinkle that is unique to Chanel IMO.  The other is a very pigmented subtly iridescent black which I decided to skip on in my attempt to stick to some sort of "budget". Ha! ;-)

Below is the Chanel highlighter compact with their velvet pouch.  The double C logo is in gold instead of the usual white.
Below is the product description on the bottom of the highlighter compact.
The powder comes with a moon shaped brush applicator.
Below is the rather impressive Lion embossing on the highlighter.
Below left is the highlighter compact versus the size of the single eye shadow compact released in this collection.
Altogether, my picks from the collection below.

Clockwise from left:
905 Electrum Lamé - pale white gold (applies more pale gold than it looks in the pan, which is white).  Gives a very intense inner corner highlight to the eyes should you wish!
907 Cuivre Lamé - medium to deep copper bronze.
906 Vert Lamé - blackened olive green (looks more black when smoked/blended out, or more green when pressed/packed on the lid).  Not usually a green eye shadow fan, but even I couldn't resist this one!  It's versatile and beautiful in the complex nuances it gives to the eyes.
Le Lion de Chanel Illuminating Powder
All three eye shadows have very complex, gorgeous shimmers and very intense in pigmentation and give a very impactful eye look with little effort.  All incredibly smooth and creamy in texture.  They blend easily and you need little to build colour and lasted all day without noticeable fading (and no eye primer required for me - I have normal eye lid skin condition FYI).  At first I found it a little tricky to know what to pair with all three eye shadows on my eyes in terms of lips and cheeks as I don't usually wear these kinds of shades, but I found a nude lip and bronzer on the cheeks worked best as to not compete with such a smokey, intense eye look.  Perfect for parties for sure!
Below are swatches of the Le Lion de Chanel highlighter.  The first photo is how it looks in low light.  Left is a little of it blended out and right is a heavy swatch (no primer and both applied dry with finger).  FYI, I have medium to tan, olive skin (~NC30-35).
Below is how it looks in natural light.
Below are swatches of the three eye shadows photographed in low light to capture some of the shimmers.  Left to right: 906 Vert Lamé907 Cuivre Lamé and 905 Electrum Lamé.
I skipped on the lip palette as I personally don't tend to use them as I find lipsticks more convenient to use.  I also skipped on the Opulence nail polish as I already have Troublante (seen in my old post when it was released with swatches here), which according to Ommorphia's post is a good dupe!  I also skipped on the red lipstick in the holiday/Christmas red packaging as I have one similar from last Christmas I believe (I can only take so many red lipsticks! >_<)  However, if you missed out on any of these in the past, they're worth a look!

Overall
Love everything I got.  It's gotten me excited for the festive season!
