Over the past few weeks, I've been trying out a few products from the Aveseena brand. Aveseena is a new skin care brand made in the U.S.A, and was founded by their scientific director Dr. Ebru Karpuzoglu who specialises in immunology and estrogenic chemicals. It's rare to find skin care brands that directly link scientific, peer-reviewed papers, so it's great to see this one does! (See them here). The brand is all about using natural, organic and health-conscious ingredients to meet various skin care needs.
I've always wondered about the actual efficacy and safety of so-called "natural" skin care products. To me, "natural" does not necessarily mean safe or healthy, so it's helpful to know that the brand is based on scientific research! *Win* The brand's focus is on the "well being of the skin, the first line of immune defense and natural barrier of your body". Makes perfect sense to me. :-)
This first product I'm reviewing is their Aveseena Honeyactive Beauty Mask. This is my first to try a pure honey-based mask and to be honest, I was very tempted to taste it at first. LOL. ;-) The natural scent of the mask are a combination of their key ingredients - honey (of course), cocoa and floral citrus. To me, it smells like a snickers bar. Yum. I've been thoroughly enjoying using this mask!
The honey in it helps nourish and soften the skin. It also contains white/china clay, which helps draw out impurities and gives a gentle exfoliation. (See bottom of post for full ingredients list).
It's the thickest mask I've used, which in this current dry and cold climate in the southern hemisphere, makes it a little tricky to spread easily across your face at first - if you're not used to its consistency. However, after warming up between your fingers first, it's lovely, rich and decadent. (On a side note, I made the error of not putting my hair up the first time I used this - don't make this same mistake! LOL. ;-) ) This application is for "deep detoxing", but you can also apply it thinly by mixing with 1-2 teaspoons of water. The mask does not actually dry like other masks - if anything it does melt even more with the natural warmth of your skin.
There are immediate effects on my skin after I remove it with a wet flannel. It looks significantly brighter, more evenly toned, more plumped and hydrated. A lot of masks don't achieve this for me, so as you can imagine, after the first use, I was VERY pleasantly surprised when I could see positive results! ^_^ I'm hooked!
I love applying this mask two or three times a week directly after cleansing, removing with a warm, wet flannel, followed by the Aveseena Essential Radiance Serum then their Ageless Perfection Cream. Together they leave an amazingly glowing complexion that is fresh and plump. I also find that makeup layers very well on top (following sunscreen of course. ;-) ), and the glow is apparent and remains throughout the day. I can imagine that this whole routine would be terrific for special occasions if you want your skin to look amazing. This product, as rich as it feels, did not break me out or leave any irritation, so it's very gentle. For reference, I have dry/dehydrated skin and this definitely left my skin feeling nourished, plump and supple. This mask is designed to be used for all skin types though, which is great.
There's also no artificial dyes or artificial fragrances in their products!

Their products comply with international standards, and are "H-Free", which includes chemicals with endocrine (hormone) disruptor characteristics like parabens, which can interfere with or disrupt the delicate hormone balance in our bodies. They are dermatologist tested and approved; hypoallergenic; certified 100% cruelty-free and animal friendly, and EWG verified. This particular product is also suitable for vegetarians - in case you were interested!
Packaging
The mask comes in a no-fuss, simple, heavy glass jar, which is completely black and opaque so it doesn't let light in affecting the product. So, one to keep in your home rather than travel with you. It also comes with a small spatula to scoop the product out with.

Bottom Line
This is an absolute wonderful treat to use that gives immediate visible and lasting results. Must-have from the brand.
Availability
Available here. I do hope they will be made directly available in Australian stores soon so I can easily re-stock and try more from the brand. However, they do ship internationally (in select countries, including Australia) as well, so at least that is a relief! ;-)
